Alright, I may be addicted to taking classes. My husband was sweet enough to sign me up for another one today. This time, it was making cookies. Again, I went to Make It Sweet in Austin, and it was a great class. They give you recipes and instructions on everything we use in the class. Today, they had summer themed cookies for us to make. I was able to use royal icing and fondant. I was so amazed at all the fun things you can do with the icing and all the different ways you can use it. I can't stop thinking about all the adorable cookies I have seen that I think I can try. I have already agreed to make Christmas cookies for my son's daycare. I can't wait to make more cookies.
This coming week, I am going to be using a gumpaste shoe. It will need to be a darker red, so I will need to paint or airbrush it to make it that deep red. I have started putting it together, so it will have a full week to dry. I used a pattern that was on Cakecentral.com. To put the pieces together, I used piping gel as my glue. I did use my pasta roller again to make sure all my pieces were the same thickness. I am excited to see how the shoe turns out and I can't wait to put on the finishing touches. For now, all I can do is wait for it to dry and become stable. Here is the finished shoe. |
